ITINERARY

Depart Cairns early morning with Skytrans for a 45 minute flight to Cooktown. Enjoy spectacular views as you fly along the coast between the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park and the Great Barrier Reef. On arrival you will be met by Nugal-warra Elder for the Rainbow Serpent Rock Art Tour. This tour includes a visit to six rock art sites, including the Great Emu Cave, and provides a fascinating introduction to Aboriginal culture and society.

Visitors now have the opportunity to visit the Nugal rock art sites in the company of Nugal-warra Elder and to hear the myths, legends and family history depicted in the art. Previously inaccessible to visitors, the sites are situated high in the hills above Hope Vale Aboriginal Community. Here, on his Traditional Lands, your guide explains why the sites are of such importance to future generations of Nugal-warra people. He gives his guests an understanding of the rich and complex society depicted in the art, and shares his ancient Aboriginal philosophy which shows how we can engage the environment in order to better understand ourselves.

Return to Cooktown at 1:30pm where you will be taken to the Nature Power House Museum for lunch at the Vernadha Cafe. Entrance to the gallery is included. You have the remainder of the afternoon free to explore. Transfer to Cooktown Airport for your return flight back to Cairns at 5.40pm on arrival you will be met and transferred to your accommodation, arriving at approx 6.45pm.
