Overview:

One of the last truly remote areas of Australia, Aurukun, is situated near Weipa, Western Region of Cape York. At the junction of three pristine rivers - the Archer, the Watson and the Ward, the Aurukun wetland area is massive. Aurukun was established as a Presbyterian mission in 1904. It is today one of the larger communities in the Cape with approximately 1200 people. The Aurukun wetlands area is an untouched environment with a wide range of birdlife, flora and fauna. The eco-tour charter provides a unique way to explore this untouched natural world, with interpretation and insight from the Wik and Wik Way people.
