Picture yourself living this experience (a customer’s recollection):
Sitting peacefully in the cool shade of the late afternoon, you are watching the hues of the sunset colours mixing with the deep reds of the surrounding sandstone cliffs. The glimmering reflections on a cliff wall next to the rock pool, dance in hypnotic rhythm. A gentle splash from a fish feeding on the surface alerts your attention to a number of aerobatic rainbow bee-eaters dipping to the waters surface, as if sharing the same meal.
Sharpened by the primal arousal of being one of a handful of visitors within one hundred miles of this place, your senses seem to amplify the brilliant colours of the birds, as well as the unfamiliar sounds and aromas of the tropical Australian Outback. One of those aromas is the camp oven meal cooking in the fire, just part of what promises to be an unforgettable evening under a blanket of distant stars.
During the evening, you sit captivated by the dancing flames of the outback campfire, sharing a laugh with a small group, including a couple of local guides, one from Katherine town and one Aboriginal Countryman, sharing what they love about their lifestyles. You find yourself listening intently to the stories of the aboriginal creation time. You are now in the lands of this ‘dream-time’ and your traditional host will openly share these stories, because he knows, that after today, you will feel connected in some indescribable way to the timeless country around you. You will be a friend.
